It seems like yesterday when Agent 31 came into my life. She's a big girl now and ready for grade 1. Here she is at her SK (Senior Kindergarten) graduation.

The cake was delicious in case you were wondering.

There's a New Man in my life

and his name is Kobe! He's good looking, strong, powerful and promises to take me where I've never been before. I can't wait to put my hands on him and make him work for me. I understand he does leather the way I like my leather done.

Okay so I'm talking about my new industrial sewing machine. I found him on Craigslist and bought him off a guy who had him for only 5 months. I tested it out on some scraps and am just in love with the quality stitching. He was delivered just last night so I haven't used him to his fullest potential yet. I'm a little scared - you know how it is when you get something new. You just are worried that you might mess something up and you won't be able to fix it. Well the YOU might very well be just ME. I hope that is not the case though. I'll be sure to post updates on how we adjust to each other, so keep an eye out.

Polka Dots Polka Dots!

Isn't this the coolest leather print? I'm really excited about this one. The dots are embossed on the leather. This wristlet pouch is fully lined with a houndstooth pattern. The strap is detachable so you can wear it on your wrist or remove the strap to use it as a clutch or pouch.

This pouch will be available in my etsy shop http://sewlutionsbyamo.etsy.com soon, so look out for it! Here is a view of the inside

Green Leaf

This is my latest wrist purse. I have reversed appliqued a suede leaf on the sage green leather flap with decorative stitching. I rather like how it turned out and hope you do too. This one is One of a Kind!

My Trip to the Farm

Today I helped supervise my daughter's SK class. We went to the Green Acres Farm.

I was the lucky parent who only had to supervise 2 children. Two of them were a no show. I have to say though, my girls were perfectly behaved, not like the raging pack of boys a few rows down the isle on the bus. We had a trailer ride around the farm and our tour guide explained about the different animals they had there.
We even got to see the shearing of sheep!

You might recognize Agent 31 on the right =>

When going to see the Doctor...

these days, you almost need to have a medical degree!

Let me tell you about a little story that could have ended badly. My mother went to the hospital earlier this week to check her eyes. She went in thinking she had cataracts but when they had another look they told her it was glaucoma. They told her they had to laser her eyes right there! After the proceedure she waited for half hour before she could drive home. The next day she went to work feeling a little pain in the eyes. The pain got worse and she had to leave early. It got so bad by the next day and when she could hardly see, she called the hospital. They told her to come back.

When she got there another doctor looked at her eyes. He then asked if she was taking the drops they gave her. "What drops?" she asked. He asked again in disbelief, "they didn't give you any drops?" "No, nothing and I even asked if there was something I should do after the laser treatment" she said.

***Can you spell LAWSUIT****????? WTF, (I don't even swear but it has to be said) what were they thinking??? It turns out because they neglected to give her the drops she had gotten a major eye infection.

They gave my mother a prescription for drops with steroids in it and thankfully, it has been getting better!

So beware people, always read up a little on whatever they(doctors) say you have so that you have a little knowledge and can ask questions that may REMIND some doctor to treat you right!

***my mom won't sue, but I told her to document everything, I guess I just did that for her***

Ring the Alarm!

Another fire's burning ohh oh!

Okay so those aren't the exact words to the song, and I just butchered it. While most people have gone away camping this week-end (it's a holiday weekend for us Canucks), we found ourselves in our back yard in front of our ghetto fire pit. Watching the fire dance is very mesmerizing and magical. I sat there staring without even speaking. The crackling and hissing were music to my ears.

The fire kept the bugs at bay and the chill off my spine. We would have roasted marshmallows, only I forgot to buy some and the ones we had were rock hard.

Tag - I'm it!

I was tagged a few days ago by Zuleika of Hobbyzu http://hobbyzu.com/ . What is tagging you might ask. Well, it is a sort of 'get to know you' game that bloggers play. Now on to the

Rules:

• Start with 7 random facts/habits about yourself
• People who are tagged have to write their 7 things on their blog
• Then choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names
• Don’t forget to leave them a comment to tell them they have been tagged and to read your blog

Here are 7 Random things about myself:

1) My toes curl up when I'm eating something delectable.

2) I fondle fabric and it doesn't matter if it is being worn. One day I'll get caught for sure!

3) I don't like knowing or seeing someone who is sad. Will do what I can to make them feel better.

4) Having my feet rubbed is the best thing on earth.

5) I need to turn the volume down on the radio when I reverse the car or when I'm lost.

6) I love to read while I eat.

7) I am fascinated by thunder.

I am now going to tag the following people (only 5):

What are the Odds?

This morning my husband called to say his car broke down, so I had to pick him up and take him to borrow his sister's car. After I dropped him off, I went to drop off our daughter at the sitter's. When I approached my car I noticed that I had an ugly flat tire. Now, I'd love to say that I changed the tire all by myself but can't - I almost did though. You see when I jacked up the car and tried to remove the bolts, I realized those babies weren't budging. So I called daddy to the rescue! After much toil and much WD-40 he managed to get them off and put the doughnut on. Then I got the tire patched and went on my merry way to work with dirty pants. Oh well, it could have been worse!

What a turn around!

I've been feeling tired and run down all week so I decided I needed a sick day. To my surprise I received this wonderful Mother's day card from my brother. He is in the U.S. Army and is stationed over in the desert. He is such a thoughtful man, always thinking of others. Getting this card really picked up my spirits. Thank you Rae, I love you!

Being home today I was finally able to set up my other computer in my new studio via a wireless router connection - whoo hoo!! Anyone that knows me knows I am totally binary when it comes to computers. I may be a phone tech but computers really challenge me. So I'm sitting here in the comfort of my sewing room updating my blog - how cool is that!?!

I've never Thought of myself

as being a collector, but look what's happening!
I seem to be getting these cool looking white things. I was told they are called Milk Glass by a friend who actually collects them - who knew! I love how retro looking they are. I was attracted to the clean lines and the white just seems to pop against whatever colour your put them against. These will be in my new sewing room. I may put soil and plant some grass or Jade in them. Whatever I do they will look awesome against my turquoise blue walls - if they ever get painted by that husband of mine. I can't wait to see what else I find while thrifting.

Little Touches

In between working on orders and trying to get my new sewing room ready, I have made a pincushion and a pressing station. I used this fun quilting cotton and wool felt for the base of the pincushion.

This pressing station is awesome! It is just the perfect height for me and I can house my pressing tools underneath.

I was inspired by Patty of All Dunn Designs. Check out her amazing sewing room http://www.alldunndesigns.com/id35.htm

Meet Inspector #31

Her face has been altered to protect the innocent but her attitude shines through.

Inspector#31 is in charge of Quality Control. She tells me if something is ugly. Her dreaded phrase 'mama that's ugly' will send a project straight to the recyle bin. She keeps me on my toes, that's for sure!

Old World Charm from a new age Girl!

Introducing Bronwyn!

This charming bag is made from a tapestry chenille that is heaven to the touch. The fabric was one of my great finds and it took me almost 2 years to use it. I also used a dark green velvet that not only adds contrast but compliments it as well. The brass hardware adds that medieval touch me thinks.

It's been awhile

It's true I haven't been posting as frequently, but that does not mean that I have been slacking. I have been juggling so much lately I'm surprised I'm still standing. I am currently in the process of moving my studio from its downstairs location to its new upstairs location. There was a lot of planning on my part before anything was moved. Here are pics of my downstairs location just before all hell broke loose.

The set up was nice but I needed a bit more room and so does my daughter. She will be moving in when I move out.
Status: So far 99% of the furniture and fabric have been moved upstairs. Shelves have been mounted into position. Next step will be to take everything down patch what holes I don't need and paint. This painting and patching will be done on both rooms - so I don't know how long it will take. I hope my husband contractor will be in Speedy Gonsales mode. I can't wait to show you my new studio!
I'd love to hear your opinions.
