July Updates

July is the best month of the year and it also happens to be my birthday month. This year I turned 40!

>>>>>>>>>>>WOW<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I still can't believe it. Anyhow, It came and went without incident. My mother reminded me that when I turned 30 I was really depressed - I can't remember any of that.
I wanted to do something special for myself so I joined the gym. I joined my whole family in fact. I am really excited to get back into shape and have a strong body again.
Jolie was in Kiddie Carnival for the 2nd year in a row!
Her band came in 1st last year and 3rd place this year.

I also upgraded my Walking Foot to this Beauty!
I leave you with a couple custom orders I have done.

Branding

Look what I got in the mail yesterday! I ordered these through Deanna from rockrunphotography and love how they turned out.

I wanted to use my signature Pagoda shaping. I also got stickers made.

New Beginnings

I launched the opening of a new store front on Etsy! Introducing:

Your place for inspiration and all things beautiful!

So far I've only added lingerie supplies from when I used to make un-mentionables.

Stop by and give me a heart if you like!

A Freak in the bedroom!

Okay, so it is not what you think - though my husband would love it if it were ;-)

No, what I'm talking about is Obstructive Sleep Apnea and sleeping with the aid of a CPAP mask and machine. Five years ago I was diagnosed with severe OSA but instead of going with the recommendation of using a CPAP machine, I opted out because I was vain.
I found myself drowsy in the mornings and pinching myself to stay awake on the morning commute. Now that I have been sleeping with the aid of the machine, I haven't been cutting off my oxygen levels thereby causing sleep deprivation and risking heart attack, stroke and much more!
I may look like a freak but at least I'll live to tell about it.

Here I am on my 2nd week and 3 masks later. My first mask I called 'fighter pilot', the 2nd I called 'pig nose' and this 3rd one I call 'the diver'.

I hope the diver will be the one for me. You can read more on Obstructive Sleep Apnea here.

A new Twist on an old Favourite

I was contacted last week by a man who wanted me to make one of my Deluxe Slim-line wallets with hidden zippered compartments for his wife.

His wife had purchased one of my Metro-Man wallets for him before and loved the wool/leather combination. (incidentally, he loves his wallet too!)
I usually do them with the leather on the outside, for this order, the leather is on the inside - I think I will be making more of this version for sure.

How BOLD can I go?

Well take a look. This is my attempt at putting it all together, to try and tie in all the bold pieces.
Check here where I made the sofa seat covers in a funky fabric I found. After that I realized that I still had to somehow pull in the colours from THE funky chair.
At first I wasn't sure if I succeeded or if I even liked it, but it has grown on me. It has been about 2 weeks and I think It's a keeper.

A machine of her own

So, Agent 31 wanted to step up her game from just being Quality Control Agent, to hotshot Sewer#2. I checked with the child labour laws and they require that if a child is working in a sewing studio, then she needs her own machine :-)

This one is for her to practice until I am confident that she can handle a real one. She is only 6 but she can handle a scissor like nobody's business.

I'm Bringing Saddle back!

I have made many of these over the years, but have not put any up on Etsy for a long time now.

The Sienna leather saddle bag purse is one of those purses that you just grab and go with. I did my reverse applique technique on this one. It is backed with lace. Leather and lace together without looking naughty!
You can see more here.

A bed fit for a Princess

Agent 31's bunk bed needed a cover, and what 6 year-old doesn't want to pretend they are in a tent. This is the glammed up version.

This picture shows that I attached the flaps between the seams. This project took 5 metres of fabric. When I went back to get more for the bottom bunk, I was SOL!

Trifold Wallet

Tri, tri, try again!
This is my prototype. I should not have backed the zippered compartment with suede, it made it too bulky. My next ones will have 2 snaps and I won't do the rivets.

Here are some more pictures, let me know what you think.

Spring into some Home Dec Action!

I've been meaning to recover my sofa's seat cushions for like a year now. I finally did it. I was lucky to find the same fabric as the sofa, but it wasn't the same shade and not enough to do the whole thing.

I used a funky fabric for the gussets, which I will tie in by doing cushion covers and incorporate the rest of it in drapery some how.

These cushions need a good pressing but I was pooped by the time I finsihed. I'm glad it is finally done and it only took an afternoon.

Onwards, to the next project!

A Writer's Best Friend

If you've just finished your thesis, body of work, and have been searching for the perfect cover to encase your thoughts, then look no more!

This is the 4th one I've made and has to be the best one yet. I'm seriously considering doing some writing of my own, just so I can put it in one of these.

Actually, you don't have to be a writer. You can place your children's art work, your art work or even your favourite recipes.

You would make quite an impression carrying your resume in it!

It even looks great just laying on a coffee table.

It's Logistical my Dear Watson

My newest design was a big challenge in figuring the best way to piece it together. I like how it turned out and am torn between keeping it for myself or putting it up for sale in my shop.

Well here she is!
